almost...

while there are many heroes to choose from this past two days, tommy haas gets my vote this time....almost.

(i thought haas would win the time i started writing this)

down 0-2 to roger federer going into the 3rd set, haas rallied back, tied to 2-2 and forced one more set to decide who will go to the quarterfinals of the men's singles in this year's australian open.

unfortunately, the momentum suddenly shifted to federer's side when one call in the 6th game was called out (which is actually out, based on the animated replay)and haas reacted, lost his temper and the world ranked number one federer went all the way surviving in what should have been a remarkable upset following the exit of number two seed andy roddick.

now, i can't think of anybody left in the tournament that could beat federer. maybe baghdatis? davydenko? i don't know.

by the way, here are some of the choices anyway.

1. pacman

manny pacquiao - the people's champ demolished erik "el terible" morales in their rematch dubbed as The Battle 2. pacman determined to beat morales showed his speed, power and technique by continously hitting him in the head and body in almost every angle eventually sending the mexican to the canvas for the first time in his impressive career. pacman the man!

2. kobe

tallying a 2nd all time best 81 points (second to wilt chamberlain's 100), kobe bryant single-handedly carried the los angeles lakers beat the toronto raptors 122-104 last night. kobe scored 26 in the first half and an unbelievable 55 in the second half. way to go kobe!

3. tochiazuma

at long last, somebody who is not asashoryu won. for the past year, after the retirement of takanohana and musashimaru, the mongolian asashoryu dominated the japanese sumo. i've been rooting for tochiazuma since i started watching sumo, but his injury kept him from being one of the great sumo wrestlers. well, this maybe the start or is asashoryu just had a break? tochiazuma, ganbare!
